How to use Slumbr Mouth Tape

A small, calm habit before sleep. Here's how to put it on, take it off, and look after your skin.

Before you start

Slumbr Mouth Tape is a general wellness product. It isn't a medical device and isn't intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any condition.

You need to breathe comfortably through your nose before trying it. Lie down, close your mouth, and breathe through your nose for a few minutes while you're awake. If that's hard, don't use mouth tape.

Try it for the first time while you're awake, for example while reading for 15 to 20 minutes, before you wear it overnight.

Applying it

  1. Wash and dry the skin around your lips. Skip balms, oils and lotions there before bed.
  2. Peel one strip from the printed liner.
  3. Rest your lips together gently.
  4. Smooth the strip into place over your closed lips.
  5. Close the liner so the rest of the strips stay clean.

The strip is solid tape with no slit. It should feel light. If you feel any discomfort, take it off.

Removing it

In the morning, lift one corner and peel slowly, low and close to the skin, while supporting the skin with your other hand. Don't rip it off. If it sticks, wet it with warm water first. You can remove it at any time during the night, for any reason.

Skin care

  • Only apply to clean, dry, unbroken skin.
  • Don't use it on chapped, cracked, sunburned or irritated lips or skin.
  • Facial hair can reduce contact and make removal less comfortable.
  • If you see redness, itching or irritation, stop using it. If irritation lasts, talk to a healthcare provider.
  • Use lip balm after you take the tape off, not before.

Who shouldn't use it

Do not use Slumbr Mouth Tape if you:

  • have a breathing, heart or sleep disorder, including sleep apnea, or any condition that affects your breathing
  • have trouble breathing through your nose, or have a cold, congestion, allergies that are flaring, or a sinus or ear infection
  • feel nauseous or might vomit
  • have been drinking alcohol or have taken sedatives or sleep medicine
  • are under 18. Keep it out of reach of children.

If you're pregnant or have any medical condition, ask your doctor before using it.

Stop and remove it right away if

you feel short of breath, anxious or panicky, or uncomfortable in any way, or if you notice skin irritation.

Storage

Keep it somewhere cool and dry, like a nightstand drawer, away from heat and direct sun. Close the liner between uses.
